FAQ
Where are you formulated and made?
Where are you formulated and made?
Lixirskin is formulated in our lab in London and made in the UK.
Are your ingredients vegan?
We are vegan and cruelty free.
What do you mean by less is more
Products with too many active ingredients which work on different metabolic pathways confuse the skin, it works too hard, cell energy is depleted, the skin gets tired and gives up. Layering too many products is likely to produce the same result. There is also potential for counteraction and irritation if not paired correctly. It is better to ask the skin to do one thing at a time, but to do it well.
What is the plateau effect
Active ingredients for specific skin concerns when used for too long saturate the skin and no longer delivers results. It is good to switch them around to keep the skin stimulated. It is the same problem as always doing the same exercise.
Why don't you have products dedicated to the face, neck or eye?
There is no such thing as a product which is good for one part of your skin and not the other. A good formula does it all.
What do you mean by universal?
All skins share the same everyday needs. For these essential needs, we’ve got you covered with multi- tasking heroes that make an instant difference to your skin and work for everyone – young and older skin, women/men, without overloading your skin.

Do I need to clean my skin before using the Vitamin C paste?
No, your Vitamin C is a cleanser/mask/toner all in one.
Can I store my Vitamin C paste in the fridge?
Absolutely, it is even recommended! Our founder does.
Can I use my Vitamin C twice daily?
Use it once a day, it is your morning cleanser but it is also a powerful shot of Vitamin C.
What is the longest time I can leave Vitamin C Paste on?
Vitamin C works very quickly, however, you can leave for as long as you want to, just don’t forget to rinse it in the end as it is not a leave-on product.
Should I rinse Vitamin C Paste, does it affect its effectiveness?
You should definitely rinse Vitamin C Paste. It is not good to leave an acid product on the skin during the day.
Our Vitamin C is freshly activated at the time of use with water, it is able to reach the skin cells much more quickly so rinsing is not a problem.
Best way to remove the Vitamin C Paste please? Face cloth, cotton wool or..?
We find it easier/quicker to remove a product that’s a bit thick/sticky with a mitt/cloth, but it’s really up to you!
I have oily skin, is Universal Emulsion an appropriate moisturiser?
Definitely yes! It is light yet intensely moisturising, and helps your skin retain water. It gives you a glowy, dewy skin without leaving it oily!
Are your products safe to use while pregnant? Anything to avoid?
We always recommend checking with your doctor but generally they do not recommend Retinol and BHA.
Can the Universal Emulsion be used as a sunscreen? Does it have enough SPF?
It gives you a natural SPF 10 without added sunscreen, it is good if sun exposure is low but not when sun exposure is high.
Is the Universal Emulsion enough as an anti-aging product?
It can be enough but also a serum base when you mix it with our Night Switches. Retinol is the best anti-aging molecule.
Could you please elaborate as to how to coordinate the 3 Night Switches?
For problem skin, use BHA/AHA followed by Retinol. For aging skin, use PHA/AHA followed by Retinol. Do also check our ‘Good Skin’ tab for more info.
Can the Night Switches be used alone or is it best to mix with the emulsion?
They all have to be mixed with Universal Emulsion except BHA/AHA that can be used applying one to two pumps to the affected area and then follow with Universal Emulsion.
Will your Retinol still be effective if I mix it with my facial oil?
Best not, we use an encapsulated liposome Retinol to improve penetration, the oil will create a barrier and reduce absorption.
Can your Night Switch Retinol be used on its own without mixing with Universal Emulsion? Can I use my own moisturiser instead?
It can't be used directly on the skin as it contains 1% Retinol, the best is Universal Emulsion which is your serum base, but you can use another moisturiser.
I have sensitive skin, can I use your Retinol?
Yes! Our Retinol is encapsulated in a liposome which allows it to be much gentler to the skin and penetrate deeper into the epidermis.
Can you expand on why your formulae are great when not being typically ‘natural’ please?
There are simply good ingredients - safe, effective and formulated correctly, and there are bad ingredients - harmful, or ineffective. There is a misconception that natural products should contain many botanical extracts, which actually often have little effect. We focus on pure molecules with published clinical results. In other words, why not use Retinol for example, which is a great molecule if used correctly, just because it is not naturally derived.
